BTS's Jin begins military service, Suga expected to serve as social service agent
Jin, the oldest BTS member
bean military service on Tuesday. He is the first of the K-pop group to do so. He will be assigned to a unit after finishing a five-week basic training course. All able-bodied south korean men aged between 18 and 28 must serve for about two years.
Jin, aged 30
was eligible for deferment with a bill passed two years ago that allows pop stars to delay their service until 30.
Another BTS member, Suga has earned approval to serve as what's called a 'social service agent' instead of as an active-duty soldier.
